Heirloom Bread!
The Dundas Detour Cafe features a popular brunch as well as amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chef/owner Crystal Asher has created a celebrated kitchen & bakery where everything is made from scratch, sourcing local ingredients!
The Cafe was closed in February for the addition of the new Heirloom Bread Bakery! Freshly brewed Detour coffee and a slice of just baked, warm heirloom bread will be a treat!
Global Relationships!
Detour founder Kaelin McCowan and Director of Coffee Geoff Woolley travel to Central America to find the best green coffee beans available. After extensive field research they select the best beans, growers, millers and exporters. Buying beans direct, based on personal relationships, builds a shared commitment to the best quality.
Once the beans arrive at the Roastery in Burlington, the process begins. Each small batch roast is designed for the unique bean variety with precise temperature settings and exact timing to the second. Roasts are kept light to bring out all the subtle flavors available in each bean variety.
Local Partners!
Detour Coffee partners with the local community. Detour and Nickel Brook collaborated to produce a 2018 stout release called “Cafe Del Bastardo Imperial Stout”. Nickel Brook, the Arkells and Detour teamed up for “Arkells Morning Brew”.
Detour supports and values their many wholesale customers. Detour gives back by donating a portion of coffee bean sales to support 541 Eatery & Exchange.
The Cafe partners with Ontario food producers and farmers serving local cheese, meat, produce, beer, wine and cider. The Detour “Feast On” Certification means a minimum of 25% of all Cafe food is sourced in Ontario.
