The Live Music Scene in Hamilton Rocks August!

Free weekend festivals like “Festival of Friends” in Gage Park,  the “Dundas Cactus Festival”, and the “Winona Peach Festival” highlight local music!   Many area Farmers Markets, including Ancaster, Waterdown Village and Ottawa Street, feature live music in addition to August peaches, veggies and local food. Concession Street hosts summer “Sidewalk Sounds”every third Friday from 6-9pm.

Waterfront Music on Pier 8, Sunday Afternoon Blues at Bay City Music Hall, Seven Sundays evening Concerts in Gage Park, and Fieldcote Sunday Concerts add to the choices! With Hamilton concert venues and live music all around the city at restaurants, breweries, clubs, and pop-up sidewalk concerts…….you can find music almost everywhere you look.

Festival of Friends

“Festival of Friends” is a free 3 day celebration of local culture in Gage Park. Since 1976 this popular outdoor music event has been set for the second weekend in August.  “Friends” hosts 3 performance stages with music starting at noon. Dundas Cactus Festival

The free “Dundas Cactus Festival” in downtown Dundas is typically the 3rd weekend in August.  With 4 performance stages, and continuous music Friday night, Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday afternoon, there is live, local music for every fan. The “Cactus Festival” has been held for 42 years and was named after the local cactus greenhouses of Ben Veldhuis. dundascactusfestival.ca

Winona Peach Festival

Winona Park at 1328 Barton Street in Stoney Creek hosts the free, annual “Winona Peach Festival” during the fourth weekend in August.  This 3 day community event features a variety of live music, food, arts and crafts, a car show, a midway and ripe August peaches.  Celebrate summer music with winonapeach.com

Whitehern Gardens

For a special summer music treat, visit Whitehern Gardens at 41 Jackson Street West in Hamilton.  Every Wednesday from noon to 2 pm, $1 lemonade and tea is served up, with free live music. You are seated at lovely garden tables surrounded by flowers.  hamilton.ca/whitehern for details.

Fieldcote Band Shell

During July and August Fieldcote Museum offers live music at 64 Sulphur Springs Road in Ancaster. The Sunday Music starts at 7pm and admission is usually free though there can be a modest charge. musicatfieldcote.com for info.

Bay City Music Hall

Summer Sunday afternoons at Bay City Music Hall feature the “Sunday Blues” series. Find Bay City at 50 Leander Drive on the Hamilton Waterfront next to Pier 4 Park.  With plenty of free parking, and $10/person charge for the show. baycitymusichall.com for details.
